Our Story

Ryan and Gabrielle met serendipitously in early 2020. The summer prior, Gabrielle had interned at Fanatics before returning to South Carolina for her final semester. Just a few weeks after she left, Ryan started working there, so the two unknowingly missed each other by only a matter of weeks.

One Friday night, after Gabrielle had returned to Jacksonville and started working at Fanatics full time, they both happened to find themselves out at the Jacksonville Beach bars. Ryan followed his friend Sam into Hoptinger, where Gabrielle and her friends were hanging out. Gabrielle's friend Katie recognized Ryan from work and, being the ultimate wing woman, tapped him on the shoulder and introduced the two. They spent the rest of the night laughing and getting to know each other, eventually ending up at late night Waffle House. Ryan still didn't ask for Gabrielle's number, but luckily, he knew where she worked. Rather than simply walking by her desk, he opted for a more original approach: sending what may be one of LinkedIn's most successful messages.

Not long after, they went on their first date at North Beach Fish Camp. Ryan had picked the perfect spot—he just overlooked one small detail: making a reservation. Luckily, they found two seats at the bar, and the forgotten reservation has since become a favorite inside joke between the two of them.

They officially started dating in March 2020, just before the world shut down.

Today, Ryan and Gabrielle live together in Jacksonville with their black lab, Mac, and both still work at Fanatics—now on the same team. When they're not working, you can usually find them at the beach collecting shark teeth or reading, taking Mac on bike rides, playing tennis or pickleball, cheering on the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, or attempting to keep their ever-growing collection of plants alive.

In 2025, Ryan proposed at one of their favorite places—the beach in Amelia Island—proving that while reservations may not be his specialty, planning the perfect proposal certainly is. They can't wait to celebrate this next chapter with all of their favorite people in November!

Fresh, casual seafood right on the Intracoastal — flip-flops welcome. Our default post-beach spot. There's always a line, but it moves quickly — don't get scared off.
TacoLu Ryan's Pick

Barbara Jean's Gabrielle's Dad's Pick
Southern comfort food on the water in Palm Valley — the crab cakes are famous for a reason.
Angie's Sub Shop Our Pick
A quirky Jax Beach staple right off Beach Blvd, just down the road from TacoLu. Order at the counter and grab a table.
North Beach Fish Camp Our Pick
Fresh coastal seafood in the heart of Neptune Beach. Site of our first date, which Ryan planned meticulously except for the reservation. We sat at the bar.
Whit's Frozen Custard Our Pick
Our ice cream spot — a few locations around the area, all worth the stop after a beach day.
Le Petit Paris Gabrielle's Pick
French cafe and bakery off Beach Blvd, the closest location to Ponte Vedra — scratch-made pastries, baguette sandwiches, and good coffee.

Beach Diner Ryan's Pick
A beaches institution voted best diner in the area — expect a happy weekend crowd of locals.

Great coffee and an even better patio in Neptune Beach.
Beach & Outdoors
Atlantic & Neptune Beach Our Pick
Our go-to beaches for hanging out — wide, walkable sand with the shops and restaurants of Beaches Town Center right off the dunes.
Mickler's Landing Our Pick
Our go-to for shark tooth hunting — keep your eyes on the shell beds and you'll walk away with a pocketful.
Guana Reserve — Middle Beach Our Pick

Questions & Answers

What should I wear?
Gentlemen are invited to wear a tuxedo or dark suit, while ladies may choose a floor-length gown or elegant cocktail attire. Early November evenings on the coast can be cool, we recommend bringing a wrap or light jacket for after sunset.
Is the ceremony a full Catholic Mass?
Yes. We will be celebrating our marriage with a traditional Catholic Nuptial Mass, which will last about an hour. Family and friends of all faiths are warmly welcomed, and we hope you'll enjoy this meaningful part of our day.
What do we do between the ceremony and cocktail hour?
The ceremony concludes at 3:00 PM with cocktails beginning at 5:00 PM. Since there's only a short break between events, we recommend staying nearby rather than venturing too far. Take the opportunity to freshen up at your hotel. There's no need to make dinner plans — we'll have plenty of delicious food waiting for you during cocktail hour, followed by dinner.
Where do I park?
Both the church and TPC Sawgrass have free on-site parking. Rideshares are also easy to come by in the area if you would prefer not to drive.
Can I bring my kids or a plus-one?
While we wish we could celebrate with everyone, we are only able to accommodate the guests named on each invitation. Thank you for understanding and helping us make our day special.
How do I RSVP?
The traditional way. Your formal invitation will include a reply card and pre-addressed envelope. We kindly ask that you RSVP by mail.
What if my address changes before the wedding?
Invitations will be mailed, so if your address changes before they're sent, please let us know. A quick text or email with your new address is greatly appreciated so we can be sure your invitation and RSVP card reach you. You can reach Ryan at rpsmitty222@gmail.com, or Gabrielle's mom, Lynda, at lyndapisa@outlook.com / 609-744-2552.
